Aniajh Bermudez died at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville on Monday, Jan. 16 aged 21, her obituary says.
Born in Paterson, Aniajh lived in Lake Hiawatha her entire life.
She graduated from Parsippany High School in 2020 and was a student at the County College of Morris in Randolph.
Aniajh was known for her love of working alongside children and had been a five-year employee with the Learning Experience Day Care in Lake Parsippany, according to her memorial.
Aniajh is predeceased and now “reunited” with an older sister, Ashlee Bermudez. She is survived by her loving parents, Joel Bermudez and Felicita Bermudez; a brother, Justin Bermudez; and a sister, Gabriella Bermudez; her grandmother, Nelida Cassun; great grandmother, Simono Cruz; godparents, Rosie Morales and Bernard Jones; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and her most “favorite person ever,” her godson, Kendrick Ulloa.
Meanwhile, more than $51,000 had been raised on a GoFundMe for Aniajh’s final expenses as of Monday, Feb. 6.
“Our family has been at a loss for words with the unexpected loss of Aniajh,” reads the fundraiser. “Our ‘Cookie’ has passed away. Cookie was only 21 and had so much life to live. She was loving, fun, and caring but most importantly selfless. A young lady with a heart of gold.”
Aniajh’s funeral was held at the Calvary Temple in Wayne on Friday, Jan. 20.
“Although we are so broken we know she is with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” reads the fundraiser. “If you can donate towards her funeral arrangements our family will greatly appreciate it.”
